My bedroom has recently undergone a little makeover, however the walls were looking incredibly bare, and as I don’t have much storage I wanted something that was useful but still artsy. Whatever it was had to be really inexpensive so It was inevitable that it was going to be something I would have to make myself. I spotted some hanging shelves on Pinterest and my brain went into D.I.Y mode.
And these shelves were born ( and only took around half an hour).
What I Used:
Rope – Hobbycraft
Drill – Ikea
(any drill will work)
Drill 4 holes around 2-3cm in from each corner.
Depending on how long you want the shelves, cut the rope in to 2 pieces accordingly. Ensuring that one is about 10cm longer than the other, this piece will be for the front section of the shelf.
Lay the pieces of rope flat with one inside the other and loop through the metal ring to create a secure knot.
You will now have 4 section. Thread each end through the holes, making sure the longer sections go through the holes at the front of your shelf. Once through tie a double knot at the end of each section.
I found that before trimming off any excess rope, hang the shelf to adjust the rope accordingly so that the shelf is level.
And there you have it, a set of hanging shelves that Kelly Hoppen would be proud of.
